News From the KySTE ConCall September 12, 2016

This mostly-monthly newsletter contains announcements and information from the KySTE Board meetings, and other sources. Look below for the latest news from the Kentucky Society for Technology in Education.


Call for Presenters

KySTE 2017, the conference of the Kentucky Society of Technology in Education, invites to you to present. Nearly 2,000 teachers, administrators, and technology leaders will be in attendance. Share your methods, experiences, initiatives, and successes! Approved presenters attend the conference for FREE! This year's conference theme is "TECH Hero: Technology and Education Creating Heroes."

Presentation formats can be a basic presentation or a hands-on format and cover various strands including technical, instructional, leadership, and library/media. You may also choose to present on an introductory, intermediate, or advanced level. When you apply to present, you will indicate all of these things on your application.We would love to have YOU present at the KySTE 2017 conference. The deadline to submit your presentation proposal is November 1, 2016

FREE 10-week course on mobile learning through ISTE and Verizon. School teams of 1 administrator, 1 coach, and 3 to 8 teachers are encouraged to sign up. The next session starts 10/3/16. Click here for more information.


KySTE Fall Event

This year's Fall Event will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2016. The event will be held from 9:00 - 4:00 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel near the Airport in Louisville.

All are welcomed to attend as we explore the history of KETS (Kentucky Educational Technology System) and current topics pertinent to all of those who assist our educators in using technology effectively to meet the needs of today's students. CIO's / DTCs as well as instructional technology support staff will come together to learn about hot topics and how all comes together in the world of technology. Session topics include timelines and reporting, digital security, Microsoft Imagine Academy, STLP, and the popular topic of "How Not to Get Fired!"

Door prizes will also be given away at the end of the day! A buffet lunch will be provided as well as time to visit with vendors throughout the day!. We look forward to a day as we catch up and learn together.

2016-17 Outreach Offering

The KySTE Outreach Grant application window is currently open. This year we will have at least $25,000 to give back to our members thanks to our wonderful sponsors.

  • Second Chance window closes at midnight on November 14, 2016
  • Final application window closes at midnight on December 12, 2016.
  • The maximum grant amount for which an individual member can apply is $10,000. You may apply for any or all of this amount.
